Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is a 3D computer-animated short film released along Pixar’s Coco on November 22, 2017. The movie was produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is directed by Kevin Deters and Stevie Wermers. The film features the returning voices of Josh Gad, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Jonathan Groff from the original 2013 film, Frozen.
The film was announced as a television special to be aired on ABC. The story is about Olaf trying to find the best holiday tradition for Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. The week after Coco’s release in Mexico, cinemas in Mexico removed the short film from cinemas because of the audiences dislike for the length of the short film.
There are four original songs in the film, written by Elyssa Samsel and Kate Anderson. Songs included are “Ring in the season”. “The Ballad of Flemmingrad”. “That time of year”. and “When we’re together.”
If you enjoy Christmas, the movie Frozen and singing you will definitely enjoy this film. The film makes a lot of references to the original and if you haven’t seen the original film you won’t feel left out of the loop. The film has personality, a lot of humor and is heartwarming to watch. There were many jokes about the holidays, not settling down because you are a princess, and creating your own traditions as a family. There were also a few adult jokes in the film that were appropriate and humorous.
I expected a lot from this movie and even though I don’t think it will win best animated short of the year (counting on you, IN A HEARTBEAT) it will certainly be nominated. The singing was not as excellent as the original, Let it go, but it was memorable. The animation and ending credits were very creative and nicely framed. You can tell that the studio had a lot of fun creating scenes for this movie and the characters movements.
I definitely recommend for anyone to see this movie as well as the film, Coco. I would have liked to see Olaf’s Frozen Adventure in a movie related to Christmas or the holidays instead of a, Day of the Dead Movie like Coco. The plot made sense, the characters were likable, the songs were catchy and the design was very well done. I give this movie 4.5 candy canes out of 5.
