Strange Magic is an upcoming 3D  computer animated musical fantasy film. The film is titled as a jukebox musical that uses previously released popular songs as its musical score. The film is produced by Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm Animation. The movie will be released by Touchstone Pictures and directed by Gary Rydstrom. Gary Rydstom has won seven Academy Awards for his work in sound for movies like Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Jurassic Park, Titanic, and Saving Private Ryan. The music is composed by Marius de Vries who is widely recognized for five Grammy nominations and two BAFTAS. The movie will be distributed by Walt Disney Studious Motion Pictures and will be released January 23 ,2015.

The film was inspired by William Shakespeare’s, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Midsummer Night’s Dream is a romantic comedy involving misunderstandings and cross purposes between different races. The film stars Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood, Kristen Chenoweth and Maya Rudolph. The score includes many popular songs  such as the crossover hit by American rhythm and blues duet Mickey & Sylvia, “Love is Strange.”  The story of the film consists of, a fairy tale of goblins, fairies and imps meeting for the first time and the consequent confusions and conflicts the culture clash causes. With a talented cast and crew for the movie i expect this movie to be animated wonderfully but with little invested in advertising I’m not exactly sure if this film will be widely recognized.
