The Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced the winners of the 20th annual Critic’s Choice Movie and Television Awards last night. The nominees for Best Animated Feature included:
1. Big Hero 6
2. The Book of Life
3. The Boxtrolls
4. How To Train Your Dragon 2
5. The Lego Movie
With over 1 million viewers last night and the anticipation of the competitive nominee category, The Lego Movie would win for Best Animation. Historically, the “Critics’ Choice Movie Awards” is the most accurate predictor of the Academy Award nominations. Which might come off as a surprise considering the winner of this category did not make a top nomination for the Oscars.
The Critics’ Choice Awards” are bestowed annually by the BFCA and BTJA to honor the finest in cinematic and television achievement. The BFCA is the largest film critics’ organization in the United States and Canada, representing almost 300 television, radio and online critics. BFCA members are the primary source of information for today’s film-going public. BTJA is the collective voice of almost 100 journalists who regularly cover television for TV viewers, radio listeners and online audiences. The 20th annual “The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards” will be produced by Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment. A+E Networks will handle international sales for “The Critics’ Movie Choice Awards” and “The Critics’ Choice Television Awards.”
