Anastasia (1997)

17 years ago from today the animated American film, Anastasia was released in the United States. The film was produced by Fox Animation Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film was directed by former Disney animator Don Bluth and Gary Goldman. This movie is known as Don Bluths greatest achievement. The film is loosely based off a 1956 live action film and the story urban legend of claiming the Grand Duchess Anastasia. It tells the story of an eighteen-year-old orphan named Anya who, in hopes of finding some trace of her family, sides with a pair of con men who wish to take advantage of her likeness to the Grand Duchess. The film features the voices of Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Kelsey Grammer, Christopher Lloyd, Hank Azaria, Bernadette Peters, Kirsten Dunst and Angela Lansbury.
The movie had an overall budget of $53 million and a grand total of $139 million at the box office. The film received nominations for several awards, including two Oscars for Best Original song ( Journey to the past) and Best Original Musical or Comedy Score. The movie has generated positive reviews of a film score of 86% and has accumulated a mass following has created sequels and video games from it’s success. This movie is a fantastic movie not only with music but with impeccable design and animation. The characters are interesting and you get to know each individual character as well as their background. If you enjoy watching Disney films i would highly recommend this movie.
