The Oscars: Best Animation Nominees

Less than a week away animators, artists and film enthusiast will find anyway possible to watch the Academy Awards. The 86th Academy Awards also known as the Oscars is a ceremony that is highly accredited for voting the best movies in multiple categories each year. The category that should be one of the most interesting to watch are the nominees for best animation. The multiple contenders for this category have different elements from style, characters, plot and music.  Below is a list of the contenders and a few interesting facts. Don’t worry I won’t give away any spoilers.

  1. The Croods
    • Was one of the few early releases in this category and beat out Pixar’s Monster University.
  2. Despicable Me 2
    •  Sequel to the popular movie Despicable Me and was one of the biggest hit films of the year.
  3. Ernest and Celestine
    • Is a 2012 French – Belgian animated film directed by Stephanie Aubier. The film is based on a series of Children’s book of the same name.
  4. Frozen 
    • One of the highest grossing animated films of all time. It’s predicted the movie will take home the first Academy Award for Disney in this category.
  5. The Wind Rises 

The 85th Academy Awards® will air live on Oscar® Sunday, February 24, 2013.
