It has been recently announced from Pixar that they will be moving forward with the Day of the Dead film project, Coco. Coco will be directed by Lee Unkrich, which he’s previously worked on for Toy Story 3 and Producer Darla Anderson. It was announced yesterday at the D23 Expo.
The story has not been discussed entirely but it’s described as a boy from Mexico meeting a long-dead family member. Reminds me a little bit of, The Book of Life (2014) directed by Jorge Gutierrez and produced by Guillermo del Toro. The movie will be released in the fall of 2017. Disney also announced a new movie based on Jack and the Beanstalk called Gigantic, and story details for the Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory were also revealed during the event
.
I’m excited that we finally have confirmation about this film.
Agreed. I’m excited for the movie even though it reminds me of the book of life
I’m pretty sure Pixar’s version has been in production longer than TBOL though. I remember Pixar announcing this film years ago!
